a month agoWe booked a 3D2N trek in the jungle for the end of January 2026, it was an incredible experience, so we’ll organized by Jenna and Safar and guided by Awi and Rijah. Probably the most ethical and enjoyable way of seeing animals in the wild. With the recent floods in the village, we weren’t sure whether to come, but it was the best decision ever to do so. Community is working hard to rebuild the village, which was affected terribly by force of nature, but you can definitely still get the jungle experience here without missing out on any parts due to the floods.

weeks agoJenna and Safar have a stunning eco lodge and helped us a lot to plan an epic trek and trip. We had Edy as a guide, in a team with Kareem, and I couldn’t recommend them more. We did 2 nights in the jungle - saw heaps of wild orangutans courting and the alpha male chasing mates. With edy we saw heaps of wildlife, ate lots of jungle fruits and he even made us medicinal teas with jungle plants. The river, waterfall and hot springs were lush - had a very special experience. Please go and give generously as much of the village has been tragically lost to severe flash flooding. Wishing nothing but love and good will to everyone mentioned here and all the people of Ketambe.

months agoWe booked the 4days/3nights with Jenna & Safar. Our guide was Buyong. His brother Swardi was our cook. We would really recommend booking with them! We had a very lovely experience with the brothers. Buyong spotted al the Oerang-Oetans and other inhabitants in the Jungle. Swardi cooked us delicious meals 3 times a day. They were very caring and made sure all our needs were fulfilled. After 4 days it was unexpectingly hard to say goodbye to them. What also was very noticeable, was that they were very respectful to the animals. Above that they taught us a lot about the Jungle and the Indonesian countryside. After the jungle we spent another night at the ecolodge of Safar and Jenna, which was also a very nice experience. Overall it was unforgettable! Thank you Buyong and Swardi , and Jenna and Safar!

months agoWe (my boyfriend and I) wanted to see the jungle and orang-oetangs on Sumatra during our holiday. We chose for a jungle trekking in ketambe to have an ethical and less touristy experience. We chose for the 3 days/ 2 nights adventures jungle trekking. We booked for the night before and after the trekking a room in the ecolodge. Before the trip we had great contact with Jenna. She helped us with all our questions. She booked a shared taxi for us to go from Medan to Ketambe and at the end she helped us to book a shared taxi to Banda Aceh as well. The ecolodge from Jenna and Safar is perfect! The view from the room is great and it was very clean. The shower and toilet are very clean and nice as well! We got dinner and breakfast includes and it tasted great. We can’t wait for them to open the restaurant. The jungle trekking was with one other tourist and 2 guides, Edy and Rando. Rando cooked and carried everything to the camp. Edy guided us through the jungle, and was an expert in spotting the inhabitants of the jungle. Edy spoke English well and he was very nice. He knew a lot about the jungle, plants and animals. We saw all the animals we wanted to see, the white handed gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, the orang-oetangs and others. Rando prepared great dinner, lunches and breakfast for us. It was amazing what he could make in the jungle, tasted like you were sitting in a restaurant. The camp spots where great as well, but don’t expect that there is a toilet (the toilet is the jungle), or a shower. But you can relax or wash yourself in the river or hot spring. The whole experience was perfect for us and we felt like it was ethical and not as touristy. Thank you Edy, Rando, Jenna and Safar!

months agoWe enjoyed our stay at the lodged a night before and after the jungle trek. The accommodation is build nicely and surrounded by nature. The bathroom is shared but was very clean and generous. On the trek we had the luck to see many orang utans, sometimes very close. Our guide really lives for the jungle and knows every small path in it. He showed us many diffrent plants, trees and small animals. Swimming in the hot springs was also a highlight. We also like to mention that our host Jenna was very kind and helpfull in organizing transportation from Medan and later to lake Toba, it greatly simplified our journey.
